Slow Things Down: Cinematography Tricks

Slow motion is a great way to add drama and pizazz to your film or video project. Just take a look at the intro to this skateboarding video I found on YouTube.

The explosions certainly add a new dimension to the normal skate videos we are used to seeing, but it’s the slow motion that really makes this video come to life. Just having the explosions wouldn’t have been enough to capture your interest. Slowing the motion down is what draws you in and makes you fear blinking for fear or missing what could potentially happen to these crazy and daringĀ skateboarders.

But the real questions is this: How could you use slow motion to capture your viewers’ attention and add a new sense drama or danger to your story?
